Job description
Definition:
Professionally drive and operate all SWM vehicles while ensuring an efficient and effective collection, transportation and disposal of SWM waste streams.
Purpose:
To drive and operate all vehicles and equipment safely to the greatest profitability and with proficiency. Follow direct and written instructions from the Transport Supervisor and their appointed representative, including adhering to all health & safety and company procedures.
Scope of the role:
To collect scrap cars, loose scrap metals and other recycling materials using primarily HIAB equipment (some loads may have to be done manually).
Drive skip and roll on-roll off vehicles as required.
To collect wheelie bins & REL skips from commercial customers.
On occasion carry hazardous chemicals.
Ensure completion of appropriate paperwork for collections/delivery of all goods carried.
Ensure that daily checks of vehicle and equipment are carried out and the relevant forms filled in, with any defects reported promptly.
Develop and maintain good relations with customers and work colleagues.
Wash vehicle weekly to maintain good Company image.
Ensure security of vehicles and equipment at all times.
Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with the site licence.
Liaise and attend meetings with other company employees as necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.
Undertake training to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
Ensuring own and others compliance with Health & Safety policy.
Adhere to all legal requirements regarding highways regulations, driver hours and any driving activity.
If driving has completed for the day to undertake any tasks that need completing within the yard/depot.
To undertake any other reasonable management requests.

Qualifications & Experience:
A good standard of general education
LGV Class I or II Licence
Previous HIAB vehicle experience desirable but not essential
Knowledge of H&S issues with heavy plant & machinery
Multi drop experience
Experience of dealing with customers desirable
Digital tacho knowledge and practice

Salary: From £13.20 per hour
