Trial Manager
The Health Services Research Unit (HSRU) has a national remit to research the best ways to provide health care, and to train those working in the health services in research methods. Most research projects aim to find out whether developments within the health service really are effective, efficient and appropriate. There are approximately 70 members of staff, working together cohesively, with everyone’s contribution valued.

A Trial Manager is required by the Centre for Healthcare Randomised Trials (CHaRT -www.abdn.ac.uk/hsru/chart) at the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU), University of Aberdeen. CHaRT collaborates in high quality Randomised Controlled Trials which address important health questions.
The Trial Manager will work on clinical trials within the CHaRT portfolio (https://www.abdn.ac.uk/hsru/what-we-do/trials-unit/portfolio/index.php). If appointed at Grade 6 you would be responsible for day-to-day management of a clinical trial (or trials); if appointed at Grade 7 you would be expected to take the lead trial management role in the delivery of a clinical trial (or trials) within the portfolio.
You should have the ability to work with and coordinate a wide range of people, ie research and support staff in CHaRT and HSRU; consultants, nurses and other ward staff in the participating NHS centres; Research and Development staff in NHS trusts; Ethics Committees; trial participants; the trial funder and sponsor; Steering Committee members; and Data Monitoring Committee members. For appointment at a Grade 7 (trial manager) level, you should also have experience in the set-up and/or management of clinical trials or other large scale health or health services research projects.
For appointment at Grade 6 level, salary will be paid at the appropriate point within this scale (£36,333 - £43,155 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
For appointment at Grade 7 level, salary will be paid at the appropriate point within this scale (£44,414 - £52,841 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
As this post is funded by multiple research grants it will be available until 31 August 2024.
