Summary of the role
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Trial Co-ordinator to support the work of Professor Anne Corbett and her PROTECT research team. This post is available from July 2023. The successful applicant will act as Trial Co-ordinator for the newly funded BEACON trial of an online brain training app for people with Long Covid. There will be further opportunities for involvement in other related studies within the research team portfolio in the cognitive health and ageing field.
This role is part of the PROTECT research team that delivers digital research in brain health. BEACON is an innovative online clinical trial of a brain training app for people with Long Covid. The study combines remote delivery of large-scale research with collection of health data and close working with digital development activity. This role will deliver a Research Coordination activity to ensure the trial delivery provides a high-quality experience for participants and results in excellent quality data.
This role will provide front line support and advice to research participants, academics and other partners involved in the running and delivery of the BEACON study, including research development, project coordination and financial elements. The role-holder will coordinate the day-to-day activities for the BEACON study alongside the Trial Manager. This will include liaising with participants via telephone, email and SMS to support their trial involvement, monitoring study activity through an online portal, working closely with developers to maintain the digital trial infrastructure and supporting the Trial Manager in delivering the trial to a high quality in compliance with Good Clinical Practice. The role will also be responsible for identifying outputs and impact delivered by the project, and reporting on these to stakeholders, including funders. They will also identify opportunities for outputs to lead into new and wider collaborations.
The PROTECT research team works remotely and encourages a flexible approach to work. This post is available as a fully remote arrangement, and we encourage applications from candidates regardless of location within the UK.

About you
The successful applicant will have good working knowledge of research and/or clinical trial processes. The post will require excellent written and oral communication skills, an aptitude for accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail alongside a high level of current and relevant IT skills and ability to learn new systems. We expect the post-holder to be able to provide an exceptional level of customer service with excellent organizational skills and ability to build relationships and network with colleagues at all levels. Some experience of working within digital development and of managing budgets is desirable but not essential.
Applicants will be educated to A level standard or equivalent and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within the established research programmes. A good working knowledge of the UK data protection legislation (GDPR) and Good Clinical Practice is desirable.

The College of Medicine and Health encompasses the Medical School, Academy of Nursing and the Department of Allied Health Professions. Our Truro campus is the base for Medical School students studying MSc Environment and Human Health and for a proportion of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery students during years 3, 4 and 5. It is also the home of the European Centre for Environment & Human Health (ECEHH).
