Travel Coordinator
UK Defence Academy

£24,885 per annum plus benefits
Serco have an exciting opportunity for Travel Coordinator to join our team based at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, Swindon. This role will be required to source appropriate services within contract, research itineraries and liaise with suppliers to ensure value for money. The post holder will be responsible for completing day to day travel bookings as well as large group tours in the UK and abroad.
Serco at the Defence Academy provides Facilities Management across all aspects of the site including Estates, Logistics, various Supporting Services, together with Cleaning, Catering and Waste Management through ESS.
Duties for the role:
- Undertake the lead Travel team role for specific large group tours.
- Provide guidance to the customer on entitlements, submitting requests and travel advice.
- Make key day to day decisions to ensure the customer’s Travel requirements are completed within MOD and Serco regulations, liaising closely with internal departments, external agencies/suppliers and customers as required.
- Manage incoming office workflow and allocate work effectively ensuring all KPI’s are met.
- Production, amendment, and maintenance of assigned spreadsheets and databases including uploading to, and manipulation of information within, relevant Defence Academy application sites.
- Complete financial reports such as budget management, monthly spend, reconcile, and pay invoices, fuel card management and any other management or customer reports/statistical information that are requested.
- Actively engage with induction processes and training to ensure the successful completion of own and colleague’s probationary periods.
- Coach and mentor new colleagues; input into their performance reviews.
What you need to do the job:
- Good level of general education, with GCSE’s (A-C) or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- PC literate with a good level of experience in MS Office.
- Previous administration experience; knowledge and understanding of general office practices.
- Good attention to detail; ability to interpret/analyse information.
- Proven organisational skills; ability to proactively manage departmental workload.
- Ability to achieve BPSS clearance; Serco will initiate this process on your behalf prior to appointment.
