Senior Highway Engineer
£40,614 - £43,815 per annum
About Us

It is well connected by public transport with, bus, tube, DLR, and Elizabeth Line access. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. It has a thriving arts quarter with the both the Theatre Royal Stratford East and Stratford Circus Arts Centre offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.
You will be working within the Highways and Sustainable Transport service within the Environment and Sustainable Transport directorate where we are committed to making all our streets safer and healthier so that more people choose to walk and cycle, and can enjoy healthy and active local journeys with better air quality and less cars on local streets.
About the Job
The Urban Design team is part of the Planned Maintenance and Urban Design Team within the Highways and Sustainable Transport service. The Urban Design team is responsible for the highways design and delivery of planned highways projects within the urban realm. As the Senior Highways Engineer, you will be working with both Senior Highway Design Engineer and Principal Highway Engineer to assist in the design and delivery of highways planned projects across the Newham highway network for large project and do this independently for smaller highway projects.
About You
To apply, you will have the knowledge, experience and skills to work in a highly pressurised environment, both on your own and within a team, to deliver projects on budget and to tight deadlines. Candidates should have demonstrable relevant experience and skills in highways design, site supervision, project management of highway, engineering and traffic management projects as well as stakeholder management, and contract management experience. It is expected that the post holder be proficient in a wide range of highway design software applications, and this must include AutoCAD and 3D Civils.
