TRANSPORT PLANNER - £28,000 - £32,000 p.a. depending on experience
We are looking for an ambitious and committed individual for our transport division based in the West Midlands. Ideally, you will already have a grounding in transport and will be looking for your next challenge.
The purpose of the role is to support the Transport Manager in ensuring the delivery of a first class service to our customers, at minimum cost, to achieve maximum profitability and growth.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring customers’ orders, within the UK and Europe are planned and managed, in an efficient and professional manner.
- Accurately pricing, from tariffs, a wide range of ad hoc jobs to ensure highest possible margins and customer satisfaction.
- Ensuring delays and problems are –
a) Communicated promptly to customers.
b) Effective mitigatory actions are taken as appropriate.
- Building and maintaining excellent relationships with all customers with a view to increasing sales.
- Dealing with enquiries from potential new customers professionally and ensuring these opportunities are promptly passed on to the Operations Manager and the business development team.
- In combination with the Transport Manager, effectively managing a team of 20+ drivers.
- Contributing to strong cost management across the operation (both internal and third party).
- Dealing with out of hours issues as required (your phone will always be on in the event of a problem).
- Keeping all job files up to date to ensure invoicing is able to be completed on time and accurately.
- Working Hours 7am - 5pm

- Comfortable dealing with customers and gaining their confidence in you.
- Experienced to some degree in road transport or logistics operations – a Certificate of Professional Competence In Road Haulage Operations (National & International) would be desirable but is not essential.
- Have good geographical knowledge.
- Be comfortable and competent with Microsoft packages.
- Willing and able to positively tackle a wide variety of tasks during the working day.
