We’re looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join the transport team at an international specialist logistics provider company based in Alsager, Cheshire.

The Role
One of the leading specialist logistics providers in the UK is looking to boost it’s transport team to accommodate fleet growth and development. Therefore, a new role has become available for an experienced Transport Planner in Crewe.
The ideal candidate will have experience within a transport office and a driving licence due to the rural location of the role.
A CPC qualification is preferred, however training will be provided to achieve this qualification.
The main responsibilities of the role will be:
- To plan and allocate the loads on a daily basis in order to maximise vehicle revenue by the efficient use of resources across a varied customer base, nationwide on a multi drop operation.
- Balance the use of own fleet and sub contraction effectively.
- Ensuring the operation achieves all the necessary Health and Safety and legal requirements in relation to the Company’s Operating Licence.
- Assist in ensuring that all telematics, driver training & driver recruitment procedures are adhered to ensure the driving workforce is fully trained to meet the required business standards.
- Work alongside the training and compliance department in achieving set company objectives with regards to driver development and damage reporting, control and limitation.
- Manage day to day issues of the remote driver workforce, including performance, holidays, sickness and training.
- Attend regular conference calls and meetings at various locations and other management meetings as and when required
- Actively examining operational decisions including cost, pricing and service level provision to assess their impact on company and customers.
- Writing clear reports and presenting options and recommendations to senior management.
- Work alongside the operation management team on a daily basis to evaluate operational exceptions and their solutions.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, your role will be to work within a fast-paced operations department, managing a number of own fleet and subcontractors across a varied customer base. You will be required to develop a detailed understanding across the entire operation to allow a seamless transition during absence and holiday support. As a key member of the operation department, you will strive to achieve and continually identify ways of improving and maximizing driver and vehicle performance in line with both customer and company SLA and KPI’s.
The Offer
This is a temporary to permanent position.
The salary on offer is dependant on experience but in the range of £22,000-£30,000 per annum.
Working Monday to Friday, the hours of work will be 08:00-17:30.
