We have an exciting change to our UK Transport function at our Southern Distribution Centre in Dunstable, taking on an internal Driver and Driver Mate workforce into our 24 hour transport operation working directly for Superdrug. To lead this team we have exciting new job opportunity for an experienced Transport Manager who will embody 'that Superdrug Feeling' and ensure we can deliver our amazing Superdrug and Savers products across our store network.
The Transport Manager is accountable and responsible for Transport Operations; including outbound and trunking operations between the DC’s and the 3rd party hub sites for A.S.Watson brands. This person will need to be experienced in managing driver and driver mate working relationships and be up to date in their understanding of current transport legislation.
Ensuring store deliveries arrive on time and in full, as measured by system data and store feedback, within an agreed £ budget. Inspiring the Transport Team’s to deliver best practice routines and logistical excellence so that stores have the best opportunity to maximise availability and delight our customers.
This role will be required to work a night shift (10pm-6am) 5 out of 7 including weekend and bank holidays.
What you’ll need to succeed
Safe and Compliant!
To be fully accountable for all Health and Safety aspects of the Transport operation and vehicle maintenance.
Operational Excellence!
To maintain transport operations which meet all relevant legal obligations and company standards of operation ensuring safety at all times is a priority. To be the specific operating licence holder.
To work effectively with Distribution colleagues and 3rd Parties in maximising sales through optimised logistic operations.
Security!
To effectively manage security of property and product and transport assets through consistent delivery of the following agreed protocols

To be accountable for the management and leadership of the on-site Transport Team and to develop a positive and vibrant culture where continuous improvement is the norm.

Work collaboratively with Transport Planning and Warehouse teams.
Key skills & attributes:
CPC Transport Manager qualification (desired but not essential)
Proactive – Using analytical skills to seek solutions.
Flexible and able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Able to work unsupervised & in a professional manner
Strong organisational and planning skills.
Organised, articulate and understands aspects of the wider business.
PC literate, Numerate and Analytical.
