We are CCF, a nationwide distributor of insulation and interior building products to the UK construction industry, we are also part of the well known Travis Perkins Group and this opportunity is based in East Birmingham!

Our working hours also offer a great work life balance - most of our customers choose to enjoy their weekends and bank holidays which means you can too! The working hours will be Monday - Friday 6.00am - 3.00pm, with some flexibility required to suit the business needs.

How important is this role to the business?
Joining our friendly and hard working family as an experienced Transport Manager, you will lead a team, all responsible for ensuring stock is moved efficiently and safely within the branch. You’ll make sure we deliver our products on time, in full, every time to local customers that expect the best from one of the largest suppliers of building materials. It means keeping a close eye on costs, resources and efficiency. In short, making sure everything runs like clockwork.

But it’s not just a case of planning deliveries. You’ll need to coach your team and make sure they provide a first‐class, professional service. The biggest priority is safety, so you’ll also check that Drivers comply with the law and that vehicles are inspected.

What will I be doing?
No one day is the same as the next in CCF branch life, but here are a few pointers:

  • Responsible for the Compliance and efficient management of the branch transport operation and the improvement of driver standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring full compliance for vehicles and drivers, the reporting and management of accidents.
  • Meet agreed Transport/Fleet targets - utilisation and capacity targets.
  • Planning / routing deliveries.
  • You’ll be a true leader, capable of developing and motivating your direct reports.
  • You’ll need to coach your team and make sure they provide a first‐class, professional service.
  • Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, your aim will be to ensure that our standards never slip, by adhering to all stay safe policies and procedures. Including checking that Drivers comply with the law and that vehicles are inspected in line with company and governing body procedures.
  • Be responsible for the success of a vital area of our business.
  • Work with the whole branch team to ensure great customer service is achieved.
  • Play a key part in stock management including goods in and out, and stock take.

What experience do you need?
To succeed, you’ll need to be the kind of colleague who:
  • Proven experience of managing a small to medium Transport fleet
  • Creates high‐performing, engaged and motivated teams
  • Advantageous to have an understanding of CPC driver modules
  • Along with having the ability to provide great customer service and have experience in a similar role, we can teach you the rest.
