DCG Logistics UK Ltd is an international freight forwarder with warehouses in Chelmsford, Witham, Coventry, Rugeley and Dartford. We are a fast-growing company in the freight forwarding industry. With our global network, we manage the shipments domestically and internationally.

DCG Logistics UK Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a full time transport co-Ordinator to work within our Transport department in Coventry.

The hours are Monday – Friday 08:30-17:30 with an hour lunch/dinner break. Salary is to be discussed during the interview.

As a Transport Co-Ordinator, your duties will include:

  • Communicating with company drivers throughout shift – ensuring any problems are solved efficiently and smoothly
  • Booking slots for the drivers to collect/shunt containers – VBS system with the port
  • Liaise with relevant contractors/ third-party haulers /warehouse and transport staff
  • Communicate and update with other departments within the company with any delays or cancellations due to staff sickness
  • Make any necessary alterations to the transport plan, providing feedback to assistant transport manager where required
  • Organise and maintain filing system for transport department paperwork.
  • Follow up on investigations into accidents and incidents as directed by Management.
  • Check vehicles for damage, wear & tear and cleanliness, organising any corrective action to be taken to ensure vehicles are safe, compliant and presentable
  • Call in any breakdowns and adjust work of driver to accommodate
  • Conduct minor repairs to the vehicles. Report any defects to relevant contractors and arrange repair
  • POD and transport paperwork administration

Essential Criteria

  • Look presentable, clean and tidy in the workplace.
  • Be able to demonstrate a reasonable degree of IT/PC literacy, especially in respect of Microsoft Excel and Word packages
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Good at problem solving
  • Able to work off of own initiative, be a self starter

Desirable Criteria

  • C+E shunting experience for yard movements/preloads or willingness to complete shunt training
  • Knowledge of transport legislation
