This vacancy sits within the Communications Team in the Transport business, part of Consumer Lending.

The Assistant Communications Manager advances the reputation of the Transport business as a key part of helping Britain prosper through creation and delivery of innovative and creative communication plans that evidence effective
storytelling, are fully integrated, multi-channel and build pride in the team and
the wider Group.

The Transport Communications Team sit in the Customer Experience & Digital Team working with the Transport Platform team, the Transport Business Unit and Transport Customer Services. It’s an exciting time as we’re ambitious to build the best communications and engagement for all of our Transport colleagues.

This role will suit someone who’s used to managing their own workload with minimal oversight as we’re a team covering lots of varied and interesting work, from creating engaging colleague comms, embedding cultural change, shaping the engagement agenda and people plan, and much more! That said, support is
always available as we're part of an outstanding team that bring lots of experience to the table.

You’ll also be involved in building an inclusive team culture to be proud of, supporting people activity across the team. You will support both planning and delivery of the comms strategy, ensuring messaging is aligned to our Group Strategy and bringing stories from the Transport team to life.

About the role
You'll help deliver the communication and engagement plan for the Transport business, ensuring communications are delivered on time and add value for our colleagues across Transport.
You’ll help to create multi-channel content using innovative
and creative solutions which helps our people stay informed, connected, and valued.
You’ll keep an ear to the ground to find out what’s happening within the labs and teams; researching and writing compelling good news stories that will be interesting to colleagues locally, and Group wide.
You’ll also be involved in working with other communication colleagues in Consumer Lending, GCOO and Group Corporate Affairs to ensure we are strategically aligned and working collaboratively, sharing content and
best practice, supporting the core Group values.
Our team is made up of fantastic mix of colleagues across the business and engineering and you’ll be working with different colleagues to create a people agenda for everyone.

What experience do you need?

What skills are we looking for?

  • Communications experience or similar is desirable
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent PowerPoint presentation skills.
  • Innovative and curious with a focus on new ideas.
  • Ability to produce well thought out communications.
Committed, a self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Planning and running large, hosted calls.
  • Able to analyse information and make recommendations.
  • Use of the Microsoft 365 suite of apps to create fantastic content including slideshows, infographics, banners and logos. Using SharePoint, Outlook and Yammer to design and deliver end-to-end communications
