Job description

This is a key role within the Transition University St Andrews, a membership organisation that is part of the Transition Towns network and embedded within the University of St Andrews estates Department. It will look to engage and support students, staff and local residents in reducing their impact on the environment through developing and implementing shared and circular economy projects in support of the Universities Net Zero by 2035 ambitions. The role will support the engagement and management of volunteers particularly those undertaking projects and internships at Transition.


The postholder will also lead on communications within Transition team in order to enhance the uptake of our activities and produce effective campaigns. This will require the post holder to help plan and design promotional campaigns with other workers whilst taking a lead on the organisation’s media output.

An excellent knowledge of sustainability is required as well as good communication skills and demonstrable experience of leading successful projects that engage people in action on Climate Change or similar behaviour change work.


The role will be based within the Estates department of the University and report to the Transition UStA project manager.


This position is full time (36.25 hrs per week), on a fixed term contract for 3 years.
