A look into the role
The Henderson Academy team is a provider of internal and external training and learning solutions. We offer a broad range of courses including management development, personal development, compliance and driver training.
The Driver and Operational Training Team Leader will develop and deliver on a range of Driver and Operations Training programmes. Ensuring commercial feasibility, you will offer programmes using a progressive, professional and flexible approach and drive initiatives aimed at improving the standard of training for our customers.
Working within the transport and/or logistics industry, this position will be well suited to a professional candidate with a Driver/Ops Training background who is able to lead and inspire others and demonstrates commercial acumen and a growth mindset.
As Driver and Operational Training Team Leader you will:
- Plan and organise the schedule of work for the Driver and ops trainers.
- Ensure issues and challenges are resolved as they arise to minimise any disruption to service levels.
- Ensure delivery of excellent service from your team.
- Provide support to customers as required and within the scope of the training provision.
- Gather customer satisfaction feedback using appropriate methodology.
- Liaise with internal and external customers to understand training needs and prioritise work accordingly.
- Assist team members to meet performance objectives by providing day-to-day supervision, planning, motivation, training and support.
- Assign work tasks and schedule and monitor work and review results against expectations and service levels.
- Provide management information & analysis to a variety of stakeholders across the Group and externally through the Learning Management System.
- Assist with the management of budgets associated with Driver training revenue and costs.
- Ensure maintenance of the Driver Training fleet to meet budget targets and to a safe and legal standard.
- Deliver short training courses when required.
- Positively embrace change and strive for continuous improvement in all that the team does.
Skills for Success
Joining us as Driver and Operational Training Team Leader, the minimum criteria you’ll need is:
- Minimum five GCSE’s including English and Maths (Grade C or above).
- Current, relevant driving Qualifications.
- Experience of Driver/Ops Training.
- Experience working within the logistics and/or transport sector.
- MS Office proficiency.
- Knowledge of legislative requirements of the logistics sector.
- Familiarity with training methods and techniques.
- Experience of handling, interpreting and organising high volumes of data.

- Ability to deliver at pace, while maintaining accuracy and great service levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills .
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
If is desirable if you had:
- Level 3 in training/education delivery.
- Co-ordination experience of Driver/Ops Training.
- Leadership experience.
- Instructional design.
- Experience of e-learning platforms.
- Basic financial knowledge.
- Background in Project management.
