Location: This role is based at Quadrant: Milton Keyners. For roles based in the Quadrant:MK, you must live within 90 minutes.

About the role (External)
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone to oversee the identification, development and delivery of competence frameworks and arrangements that promote the professional development of those in frontline operations roles including signallers, Mobile Operations Managers and Control. The job involves working closely with Network Rail Training to specify training requirements and the Routes and assurance teams to promote the competence frameworks and support their implementation
What does the average day look like?
As a Training & Competency Manager you will:
- Work with Network Rail Training and other training and learning suppliers to identify and address operational training requirements and agree and deliver consistency in training content, objectives and required outputs across the business.
- Lead on the continuous improvement of competence management frameworks that include incident management to enable compliance with required legislation and competency standards.
- Work with assessors and verifiers in Route management teams to promote understanding of and compliance with the competence assessment arrangements detailed in Network Rail standards
- Work with local Route training and competency teams to develop nationally approved training programmes and other learning resources in accordance with NR training standards that the team can deliver
- Develop and deliver learning resources that support on-going professional development across frontline operations roles
- Work with project teams to forecast and schedule training programmes when new systems and processes are being transferred into business as usual.
- Work with local Route training and competency teams to share good practice and promote consistency in approach around competence assessment, training and professional development
- Consistently evaluate and report on the quality and standard of training provided.
What essential skills and experiences are required?
- Experience of developing training courses and development programmes
- Ability to provide technical leadership to appropriate peer group
- Excellent planning and prioritisation skills
- Knowledge training methodology
- Significant operational experience
- Significant assessment experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Relevant training qualification
