Training & Engagement Officer (Experienced or Potential Graduate Opportunity) - Oldham Based
Park Cakes is a c£180million business which supplies cake and desserts to service the own brands of major retailers, there are two sites both based in the North West at Oldham and Bolton.
Our products include, high end celebration cake products, slab cakes and mainstream desserts, we mostly supply Marks & Spencer’s although we also supply other major retailers.

The role of a Training & Engagement Officer is a new hands on role which will be responsible for all training in a specific area of our busy factory.
Example Accountabilities
- Devise, implement and monitor a structured training plan for a specific factory manufacturing area
- Recommend and agree Training required for the Department
- Write and deliver training programs including writing any training support materials for any training required
- Write Standard Operating Procedures for the Bakery
- Oversee Training matrices, and keep training records up to date
- Ensure training sessions are planned and delivered versus need
- Set Training KPI’s for the area and monitor versus plan
- Facilitate and check the accurate completion and submission of all documentation, records of attendance / absence forms
- Represent the company on any external audits re training
- Engage potential learners to encourage upskilling on roles and sell the benefits of upskilling
- Ensure the onboarding of both agency and Park Cakes staff
- · Build and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders, HR, Technical
- · Assist the Bakery /Other Departments in any Training/Engagement/Communication & Support activities for the Department
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate would have the following attributes although we would also accept applications from graduates with some work experience keen to progress a career in training / manufacturing:
- Previous experience working as a Trainer or a Supervisor ideally in a manufacturing environment is preferable as is desirable but not essential
- Experience of working in a factory environment / warehouse environment is preferable
- Leadership and communication skills, aligned to an enthusiastic and tenacious nature
- Good organisational & time management skills
- A customer focused approach and the ability to communicate & influence across a variety all levels
Hours: Typically 8.30 am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 8.30am – 4:00pm but training will need to be delivered across all manufacturing shift patterns e.g 6am – 2pm, 2pm – 10pm so candidates will need to be flexible on start and finish times.
Package: Salary is up to £27k plus benefits including 25 days holiday a year and 8 statutory holidays, Money purchase pension scheme with 4% contribution of salary
