Description of the Business Line or Department
Societe Generale Global Transaction Banking (GTB) includes Payment & Cash Management, Trade Services, Factoring, and Cash Clearing Services, as well as the FX services associated with these activities.
The Payment & Cash Management team delivers and supports cash management products and services that are provided to our corporate customers. With over 6,000 specialists in over 40 countries, Payment & Cash Management is a strategic activity for Societe Generale, and we can offer the expertise of a large international banking group and experience spanning over twenty years.
The Trade Services team delivers all trade-related services such as documentary credits or Letters of Credit, Standby Letters of Credit, domestic and International guarantees and finance associated in 40+ countries.
As part of their growth in the UK, GTB UK are looking for a Trade Finance Middle Officer Trainee.
Summary of the key purposes of the role
1. Support GTB Front Office (Payment & Cash Management and Trade Services) in their commercial activity.
2. Assist in processing trade finance transactions, including guarantees (domestic and international), and documentary credits by adhering to established procedures and guidelines.
3. Follow up on operational issues with the Back Office and product teams.
4. Interact with clients to address their queries and provide necessary support related to trade finance transactions.
5. Participate actively in training sessions to enhance knowledge of trade finance products, processes, and industry trends.
Summary of responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring trade finance transactions, tracking their progress, and preparing periodic reports.
- Collaborate with various internal teams, including trade operations, risk management, and compliance, to facilitate smooth trade finance processes and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Support GTB Front Office in trade transactions.
- Follow-up on client requests and needs in coordination with the GTB Front Office.
- Ensure that all trade finance activities comply with international trade laws, regulations, and internal policies. Assist in conducting due diligence on customers and transactions to mitigate potential risks.
- Close co-operation with Back Office teams and support functions (Compliance, Legal, Risk etc.) relating to all operational issues.
- Responsibility of day to day and administrative tasks relating to trade transactions: risk and compliance controls, internal reporting etc.
- Actively cooperate with the Global Relationship Manager in London branch as well as with other business lines
- Follow up on operational issues with the Back Office and product teams.
- Efficiently manage tasks and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines and ensure timely execution of trade finance transactions.
