The role
Exciting opportunities have arisen for Trainee Survey Engineers to join Fugro in Aberdeen, working within our Marine Site Characterisation or Marine Asset Integrity business lines.
As a Trainee Survey Engineer, you will assist with and learn the setup, testing, calibration, and operation of a variety of survey and positioning systems. You'll gain an awareness of engineering, ROV and marine survey disciplines. Positions could be working within our Positioning & Construction Support (PCS), Inspection, Repair and Maintenance (IRM) or Geophysical service lines.
Contract options available:
Remote Operations Centre = fixed rotation
Offshore - approx. 180 days offshore

Who you’ll be working with:
While offshore you will be working closely with the team of Surveyors and Engineers to ensure all survey equipment is working effectively and data is collected efficiently and accurately. You will communicate regularly with the team onboard the vessel and when required clients.
Here’s what a typical day would be like:

Assist with or lead mobilisation, calibration, and demobilisation of vessels.

Set up, maintain, calibrate, and repair survey equipment.

Lead deployment and recovery of survey equipment from vessels.

Train and supervise Engineers less experienced in hydrographic and geophysical survey methods.

Author, update and follow work instructions and procedures on a variety of geophysical survey work.

Work closely with other Fugro survey teams worldwide.
Who we’re looking for:
Essential

Proficient in the use of Windows, Word and Excel.

An excellent communicator (verbally and written) and able to form good working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.

Disciplined, self-motivated and flexible team player.

Able to work flexible hours, travel when required and work offshore.

Must live within a reasonable distance of a major UK airport.
Desirable
-
BSc / HND or equivalent in relevant engineering related discipline OR equivalent vocational qualifications and experience.

Proficient in the use of CAD.
