Division Overview
We specialise in emergency response, offering port-to-port towages of damaged, out of class or laid up vessels, barges, and drilling rigs as well as heavylift transportation aboard submersible Heavy-Lift-Vessels. Role Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Broker to join our busy Towage, Salvage and Transportation team. This role would suit someone who is self-motivated and conscientious, with a great work ethic and the ability to learn at pace. Flexibility will be key as this role will require working an on-call rota, approximately 1 in every 4-5 weeks (though this is likely to not take effect from day one and will come later with training). This will not be a ‘9-5 job’ due to the nature of the work we do.
What you’ll be doing
- Database input, tug position maintenance, client record keeping
- Learning and understanding the relationships between various clients and their roles to the industry on a global basis
- Learning and working with all Clarksons bespoke IT systems and tools
- Study for the ICS examinations, (optional for all new brokers at Clarksons)
- Interaction with other Clarksons colleagues globally
- Participating in mock cases and exercises to build knowledge and experience
- Shadowing brokers with live enquiries to learn about the niche area we work in
- Working with the standard industry contracts and charterparties to build knowledge and expertise
- Running new enquiries and requirements
- Preparing for your participation in the on call/duty rota
- Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Key Skills & Experience
- Experience with towage, salvage and transportation would be helpful but not mandatory
- An interest in shipping and preferably within towage, salvage and transportation
- Self-motivated and hard working with a great work ethic
- Dedicated and committed, and client service oriented
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Confident and able to work well under pressure
- Organised and able to meet deadlines
- Good problem-solving skills and able to use own initiative
- Conscientious and diligent in working style
- Positive and willing, with a desire to go the extra mile
- Team player with a flexible approach
- Desire to learn and ability to learn quickly
- MS Office skills (e.g. MS Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
