At our pre-clinical development site in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, we are currently recruiting for a Trainee Scientist to join our Bacteriology lab in the Genetic Toxicology department.

The main responsibilities will include:
Responsibility to maintain lab cleanliness, supplies and tidiness (cleaning, calibrations, reagent prep and disposal (expired solutions), waste disposal etc.)
Assists to maintain laboratory equipment, equipment records within laboratory areas
Assists in the production of laboratory work sheets for standard assays
Assists in the preparation and performance of standard assay(s) in base lab area
Learns to prepare solutions of all materials required to perform the assays (where applicable)
Performs maintenance of laboratory equipment, equipment records
Assists with the preparation and performance of non-standard assay(s) in base lab area
Learns to monitor Gene Tox site specific temperature monitoring systems for the equipment using those systems in the base lab area
Learns to respond to alarm events for any equipment monitored by Gene Tox site specific temperature monitoring systems in the base lab area
Document Quality Events (deviations) using the Veeva QMS system

Education:
Educated to BSc level in a relevant life science subject
Skills / Experience:
Knowledge and understanding of Good Laboratory Practice
Previous experience of pipetting and aseptic techniques preferred
Methodical with excellent attention to detail
Ability to accurately read, record, and communicate information
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Familiarity with standard spreadsheet and word-processing software applications
Communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills
