Job description

If you're an experienced professional who likes to work within a supportive team and interested in supporting clients with their mental health difficulties, you would be perfect for this role.

We have practitioners, supervisors and managers who will support and guide you when needed.

The role will start in September 2023 (specific date TBC) with your trainee year running to September 2023 - May 2024.

You will be a compassionate and organised individual with extensive experience in the healthcare or caring professions field, and an understanding of common mental health problems. Our Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners provide high volume low intensity interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training, working with us to provide a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. You will undertake brief CBT based interventions and support for the client groups, by providing a range of appropriate and imaginative responses, supporting individuals in difficult situations, including those who are distressed. An important part of your training will be to make decisions on the suitability of service for new referrals, adhering to referral protocols, referring clients to alternative relevant services, stepping up or referring back to referrer as appropriate. There will also be the opportunity to work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, attending meetings and ensuring a stepped care approach is maintained.

We are looking for candidates who have the minimum requirement of Level 3 qualifications e.g 3 A Levels, Level 3 diplomas, Level 3 NVQs. Previous experience within a relevant health care environment, an understanding of talking therapies, as well as experience of supporting clients over the phone, are especially desirable.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is passionate about what we do, with a positive and engaging approach to our service users and staff.

A full job description and person specification is available on request.

Please be advised that we are hiring for multiple roles which will be home based but travel within Surrey is likely for in-person client work in the community, team training and meetings. This is a really exciting time to join us and make a tangible difference to the lives of those we support.

Attendance at all university teaching days is compulsory therefore it is essential you are able to commit to this. The position is a permanent contract, with a pay reward upon successful completion of the training when you move into the qualified PWP role.
