Harrod Sport supply sports equipment (specifically goals) to a worldwide client base, including Premier League clubs as well as prestigious events such as the Olympic Games, Rugby World Cup and the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Harrod Horticultural has a large diverse client base, supplying many of the country’s top garden’s, working with exclusive clients such as the Royal Horticultural Society and several award-winning gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The role:
As a Trainee Production Engineer working within the Design & Engineering team, you will learn to develop and implement production processes that ensure products are manufactured to the specified quality while continuously improving efficiency. You will work alongside experienced engineers involved in the development of products, solving problems and helping lead the company by implementing appropriate new manufacturing technology and processes that drive quality and efficiency. You will also learn to measure, monitor and report manufacturing performance to clearly communicate to the business.
Key Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
- Become a company expert concerning manufacturing technology and processes
- Play an active role during training, helping develop and implement the company’s manufacturing technology and processes
- Work alongside experienced engineers learn to measure, test, analyse and report to the business, generating productivity and quality related KPIs
- Develop the ability to improve efficiency by analysing workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Help provide documentation, coaching and training for production operatives for company manufacturing processes – both in-house and with external suppliers
- Work collaboratively and flexibly with other departments
Key Skills Required:
- A basic understanding and passion for Engineering and shop floor processes.
- An appropriate level of English and Maths
A strong desire to learn and develop:
- a foundation in modern and traditional manufacturing and workshop processes
- how to produce, issue and interpret engineering drawings
- the ability to design and produce jigs
- measurement techniques, calibration, and tolerancing
- how to motivate, lead and communicate
- a scientific, analytical, data-driven approach
- how to program CNC plant
- DFM/DFA methodology, MRPII systems understanding and CAD/CAM skill set
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies
- Use of Microsoft Office suite
- awareness, understanding, and adherence to the company Health & Safety policy
