Job description
Purpose of the Role:
A multi-dimensional role assisting with the receiving, issuing and stock controlling of Metal Stores, including cutting of metal, instigation of re-ordering, and stock-checking. The overall intent is to ensure all departments within operations have what they need to start on time and the factory flows during outlying shifts. This role will be on a late shift, Monday to Friday.
Role Dimensions:
- Ensure that all supported areas of manufacturing and build can begin on time and the shop floor can maintain momentum, ultimately delivering performance to the racetrack on schedule
- Minimize downtime of workshops by ensuring operators are never waiting for parts
- As a key liaison between manufacturing and planning, ensure all teams are aligned in the tracking and booking in of deliveries
- Work closely with the Planning Team to manage the priority of metal cutting/kitting
- Work closely with the Internal Logistics Manager and Shift leads to maintain the efficient flow of raw metal
Principal Accountabilities:
- Physically receive metal, other bar materials and any other raw materials used in the Metal store from Goods In and physically store the goods in designated locations. When required assist Goods In in the unloading of goods from suppliers
- Ensure that all items have a location within the Stores and are logged on Javelin
- Ensure that receipts are booked into Stores on Javelin with particular attention to the accuracy of locations and quantities
- Ensure that batch traceability is maintained, through the physical marking of the materials, such that it can be readily traced back to incoming Supplier paperwork
- Ensure that incoming Supplier paperwork is in accordance with Purchase Order requirements and flag any queries with the relevant Buyer. Maintain records of incoming Supplier paperwork
- Cut metal in accordance with requests
- Ensure that all material is booked out of the Stores via Javelin
- Carry out regular stock checks, to ensure the accuracy of inventory
- When necessary, verify the specification of material using a handheld Spectrometer
- Monitor and review re-order points and re-order levels on Javelin
- Raise purchase requests to replenish stock, monitor outstanding purchase requests and progress outstanding deliveries with the Buyer, so as to ensure that service levels are maintained
- Maintain the Metal Stores areas to a satisfactory standard of housekeeping
- Carry out any other duties as directed by the Shift lead or Manager
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of process development and Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Experience with managing the delivery of quality components to extremely tight and demanding deadlines with conflicting priorities
- Proven track record of logistics and supply
- Knowledge of current car parts
- Has developed and participated in a team-oriented environment
- Brave and comfortable to try new things
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, Javelin & Miles
