Due to the growth and demand for private medical insurance within the UK we have an exciting opportunity for a trainee medical underwriter to join our team in Sheffield. You will join a supportive, well-established team and get full training and development on a career path to become a fully qualified medical underwriter.
This is a great job for someone with an insurance background, ideally within private medical insurance or someone with an interest in the field who wants to become a qualified underwriter working for one of the UK’s leading Insurance, Wealth and Retirement businesses.
A bit about the job:
The post holder will support our medical underwriting team to provide outstanding service to our customers, as well as assessing risk. You will:
- Adhere to underwriting rules, policies and controls
- Support underwriting teams by gathering customer medical information, policy management and data administration
- Provide multi-channel support and assistance to our customers and brokers
- Build your knowledge by networking with experienced/specialist colleagues for technical guidance
- Identify and recommend opportunities for improvements on processes, products and service
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Good communication skills, ability to tailor approach to audience
- Experience of working in private medical underwriting is desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology and conditions would be beneficial
- Ability to organise self, work on own initiative and cope with varying workloads and pressure
- Understands the needs of the customer to ensure they are treated fairly and the ability to have empathy and build rapport with customers
What you’ll get for this role:
- Starting salary of £25,500 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
