Job description
Annual Salary: up to £28,000 depending on experience.
Please note that this is an office-based role working in Bedford with a 50% travel requirement.
About us
We are a bespoke consultancy based in Bedford, providing professional fire safety services, health and safety, and project management support for clients, across England, but mostly located in London. We support clients, mainly for purpose-built blocks of flats, but works can include business support and commercial facilities.
We are currently seeking a trainee / junior assistant to assist with projects and surveys that we undertake on client’s behalf. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out fire risk assessments and fire door audits, writing survey reports, managing tenders, assisting with projects, building safety management, as well as general support administration.
Experience in fire safety is desirable, however full training is provided as part of this role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to gain experience in a career in health & safety, and fire safety and develop their skills in a fast-paced environment.
Please note that this is an office-based role working in Bedford Monday - Friday with regular travel required. The role requires flexibility to be able to travel to site when required, mainly to London and possibly other locations in the UK from time to time - all expenses for travel beyond the office are covered.
Requirements:
- You must as a minimum have A Levels, and preferably some relevant work experience.
- You should be a committed confident self-lead individual. It is important you are able to work under your own initiative and able to make decisions.
- You should be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- You will need to be an all-rounder, flexible, and able to adapt to evolving tasks.
- You will have very good written and verbal communication skills and able to comfortably talk to clients and residents in person, on the phone and via email.
- MS Word and Excel knowledge, experience, and the ability to write professional reports is essential.
- You will need to be fluent in English writing and grammar.
- There will be a requirement to travel to our sites with this role, so you will need to have a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle for travel to sites would be useful, although hire cars are also provided.
- Flexibility in hours of work is necessary due to the nature of the work, as travel requirements to sites and client requirements will mean hours will vary when attending sites due to site travel requirements.
- You should be based within travelling distance of Bedford for commuting to the office, preferably with train access to London.
