Trainee High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

Contract Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Faversham, Kent/Hybrid
Are you an experienced mental health or social care worker with a recognised professional qualification working in a mental health setting? Have you considered training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)?
FCS Talking Therapies are working in partnership with The University of Surrey and are looking to recruit Trainee CBT High Intensity Therapists as part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapy programme. The University of Surrey trains individuals to deliver evidence based psychological therapies for people with anxiety and depression whilst being employed to deliver these services within FCS IAPT Talking Therapies.
Individuals applying here will be applying for the one year Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies (CBT) based at The University of Surrey, Guildford. Further information about the programme can be found on The University of Surrey’s website. Successful applicants will be attending 2 days per week at the University and 3 days per week in FCS Talking Therapy Service delivering CBT treatments.
Eligibility for this role:
Candidates should have a BABCP recognised core profession qualification and have been practising in that role for at least a year post completing the training. You would need to provide qualification and registration documents as proof at the interview. These professions include:
Registered Nurse - Mental Health (RMN), Learning Disability (General Nursing and enrolled nursing is insufficient)
Medicine Psychiatric and General Practitioner MBChB or MBBS and usually PG training with membership of MRCGP, MRCP or MRCPsych
Occupational Therapy - BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, MSc Occupational Therapy, or Dip C.O.T and HPC Registered
Arts Therapist (HCPC Registered)
Counselling Accredited with the BACP, IACP, COSCA, UKCP, or FDAP (NCAC)
Social Work - CQSW, DipSW, MASocial Work or BA/BSc Hons Social Work. Registered with one of four UK regulators - Social Work England (SWE), Social Care Wales (SCW), Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
Psychotherapy/ Psychotherapeutic Counselling - UKCP Registration
Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology - accredited by the British Psychological Society and HCPC Registered as Practitioner Psychologist
Educational Psychology - Doctorate or QEPS - must have BPS Chartership (CPsychol) and HCPC Registration as Practitioner Psychologist
Health Psychology - QHP stage 2 - must have BPS Chartership (CPsychol) and HCPC Registration as Practitioner Psychologist
Forensic Psychology - QFP stage 2 - must have BPS Chartership (CPsychol) and HCPC Registration as Practitioner Psychologist Psychologist
Applicants without a core profession (such as Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners or Counsellors without UKCP or BACP accreditation) must be able to demonstrate they have met the KSA criteria by completion of a KSA portfolio prior to interview (see BABCP website for more information). You will be asked to submit your completed self-statements prior to your interview date.
Applicants from other specified health and social care professional backgrounds, which are not included as Core Professions, will be entitled to complete a Condensed KSA portfolio. Please see further details of relevant qualifications and requirements here:

Please note that applications from Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners must demonstrate at least two years post-graduate experience. We support the fair chance initiative for applicants without IAPT experience.
Successful candidates will have experience of working therapeutically with clients seeking support with their mental health. While knowledge of CBT is not essential on application, an understanding of its basic principles is desirable.
