Trainee Flexographic Print Minder - For Wristband Manufacture Eastbourne, England
Job description
THE COMPANY
UK Wristbands Limited is a manufacturer and leading online supplier of Tyvek single use wristbands for events.
The business operates from a modern industrial warehouse with good staff facilities and adequate parking close to Morrisons in Hampden Park.
THE JOB
We manufacture in excess of 60 million wristbands a year on a flexographic converting and printing machine.
Due to increasing demand, we wish to recruit an additional person with the ability and ambition to learn how to operate our complex flexographic machine as the main minder.
The successful candidate will initially assist with the minding of production at the delivery and packaging end of the wristband manufacturing process. Once we have assessed your aptitude and willingness to embrace technical learning we will commence in house training for running the machine.
Once completed this will give the successful candidate a technical skill, with commensurate salary, that is in demand in the packaging and label production industry.
Training is likely to take some months before being fully confident and capable of minding our flexographic machine without supervision.
There are seasonal peaks during which time there is pressure on production to fulfil demand. It is essential the successful applicant is able and willing to work accurately during these peak periods. And also be willing to work overtime when necessary.
Minding a 15m long manufacturing machine can inevitably be physically demanding. It entails moving along the machine, around the production area and spending most of the working day on your feet. There is also a requirement to move boxes weighing approximately 15kg during each working shift.
THE PERSON
The business runs with a small versatile team willing and able to assist in all aspects of the business. The successful applicant will be expected to fit in with this culture and assist with other duties when requested.
The successful applicant does not need existing knowledge or understanding of printing procedures and processes as we are offering full training, but we will expect competence and confidence with machinery and IT for this job.
Attributes we look for in our employees are an industrious attitude with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities, the ability to use initiative and solve problems, good oral and written communication skills and an ability to work well, quickly and collaboratively in a small team.
THE HOURS AND PAY
The job is full time, 40 hours over 5 days a week Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm with a half hour lunch break.
Our business is seasonal and we review all staff hours periodically. Employees are expected to be flexible and willing to change hours to match the demands of the business, cover holiday and work overtime if necessary.
Initial starting pay is £22,880 per annum (£11.00 per hour), payable monthly.
We will require the success candidate to be able to start as soon as possible.
