About Us
WHL Building Services specialise in industrial roofing and cladding with over 25 years of experience. We are a small, expanding team looking for a self-motivated draughtsperson to train to work alongside our existing design team.
Job Description
As a Trainee Draughtsperson, you will be preparing sketches and detailed drawings for review by the design team. You will initially learn to create drawings by utilising your CAD based drawing skills, following specifications and calculations.
As a trainee, you will also learn the following skills:
- Detailed communication with clients and external design teams.
- Producing material schedules.
- Identifying and reporting potential design issues to the rest of the in-house team.
- Incorporating the needs of the contracts department understanding site restrictions.
- Working with the Drawing Office Manager to monitor material costs, site supply, specialists’ requirements and deadlines.
- Form good relationships with sub-contractors, clients & suppliers.
- Time management skills, ensuring deadlines are achieved.
- Confidence to contribute to meetings with the design team.
- Gain deep technical knowledge.
- An understanding of the building regulations.
- Undertake necessary and useful training courses.
As Trainee Draughtsperson, you will need to:
- Be experienced in 2D AutoCAD.
- Have a minimum of 3 GCSEs Grade A-C in Maths, Science & English.
- Have a keen willingness to learn.
- Be capable and willing to follow procedures.
- Be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of the team.
- Be able to have an open dialogue regarding feedback between yourself and the Drawing Office Manager.
- Carry out other duties as deemed necessary and consistent with the job holder’s knowledge and skills for the satisfactory completion of contracts.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £20,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
