About Vistair
Vistair makes flying simpler, safer and more sustainable by connecting people with information. Our teams and technologies are trusted by the leading airlines, air forces and aviation organisations globally to help them be safer and save money.
DocuNet is the world’s leading aviation operational data management system for aviation, ensuring content is maintained and distributed to hundreds of thousands of aviation personnel all over the world.
There is a huge amount of demand for our technologies and services and we are looking to expand our team with enthusiastic new joiners.
What it’s like working here
We’re an enthusiastic team, with a great mix of experiences and an energy to achieve the best for our aviation partners, for our technology and for our people. We’re also down to earth: we speak normally, we listen and we help each other.
One of our guiding principles is to always do the right thing. We give our people the opportunity and space to learn new things and to be involved in things they want to do. We also expect them to do the right thing and to work as a team to step up to challenges.
We’re very supportive: we put a lot of time and effort into training, personal development and professional development; we have a great mental health team; and a social committee who organise events from gaming nights to bowling, football and cricket.
Career progression is also hugely important: we want to give everyone great opportunities and many of our team’s career paths have evolved through their years at Vistair.
But don’t take our word for it, hear what our people say! Meet The Vistair Team here!
The role: Document Technician
Aircraft are hugely complex machines and airlines are hugely complex organisations. To operate efficiently and safely involves distributing exactly the right content to thousands of people all around the world (about anything: from repairing an engine to cultural sensitivity while travelling the world). Luckily, aviation is finally moving on from hauling reams of paper around in heavy bags. Aircraft operators see their content as datasets: we give them the expertise to efficiently maintain that data and the technology to distribute around the world.
As a Document Technician you will enable our aviation partners to do this by maintaining their datasets. Our dedicated training team will get you up and running with the basic skills you need to work with the data standards and software we use, and you’ll quickly begin working as part of a team delivering against partner requests. Safety is paramount in aviation and you will need to balance responsiveness to our partners’ needs with delivering a high standard of quality in your work. You will progress to increasingly complex datasets and ultimately you will become an invaluable extension of their team, helping them make the most of their data.
Pre-requisites
While competency on computers and a familiarity with standard software like Windows, the Microsoft Office Suite and E-mail are essential, we will teach you the skills and the tools you will need for your work.
While by no means essential, you would have a head start if you have familiarity with technical document editing products, including Adobe products, Gimp, Inkscape, Isodraw or similar; experience working with technical data formats such as SGML, XML or S1000D; a UK government security clearance; and/or a background in document management. You should live within the vicinity of the Bristol Office, on successful completion of probation, this will be a hybrid role. There will be a need to visit the office, with notice, on a regular basis and you should be willing to attend when required by your line manager.
Benefits
We have a range of benefits including considerations for healthcare, work life balance, help with cost of living through vouchers and reductions in leisure, retail and travel. For more information on our full range of benefits, please go to https://www.vistair.com/work-with-us
