The Dental Access Centre is part of Wye Valley NHS Trust. We have 1 position available within our Dental Access Centre nursing Team: Trainee Dental Nurse at Leominster Dental Access Centre Full Time 37.5 hours Monday - Friday with 1 extended hours session per week which is at Gaol Street in Hereford We are currently looking for a Trainee Dental Nurse to provide excellent support to the dental team within the Dental Access Centre. Dental Nurses provide chair-side support to Dentists and Therapists and play a key role in the patient support and also have responsibility for infection control and health and safety in the workplace. To be a dental nurse you will need to have excellent communication skills, caring nature and be highly organised, dedicated to providing the smooth and efficient running of the surgery in providing a high standard of dental care to the patients exclusively NHS routine and urgent dental care to people of all ages including those varied special care/additional needs and those who have had difficulty accessing GDS NHS dental care at sites across Herefordshire. Training will be provided on the job as well as attending an accredited course. You must be able to travel across Herefordshire in the delivery of dental care. The Dental Access Centre is a large team, therefore once qualification is gained, registration with the GDC and experience we are able to support further training and career progression. The trainee dental nurse is a key member of the dental health team devoted to the smooth and efficient running of the surgery in providing a high standard of dental care to the patients. The will be expected to undertake, surgery and clerical duties and occasionally cover reception. Surgery work consists of every assistance to the Dentist in the clinical care of his/her patients, including the setting out of instruments and mixing of materials necessary for impressions, the filling of teeth and extraction of teeth, the taking and developing of x-rays The trainee dental nurse will be responsible for the efficient cleaning and sterilising of dental instruments, work surfaces and equipment and for the maintaining in good order of instruments and hand-pieces, in accordance with the Cross-Infection Control Policy, Local Decontamination Policy and Professional Guidance. The trainee dental nurse must ensure that all relevant record cards and radiographs are available for the day’s patients. Where appropriate, computerised records will be updated and the use of charting applied. The trainee dental nurse will attend training programme which is run by an accredited training programme, as well as supported on the job training.
