We are a looking for a hard-working, reliable and committed individual to join our friendly team as a Trainee Dental Nurse.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain a qualification and earn at the same time.
During your training at Bradley Shorthouse, as well as the training provided via the chosen college to gain your recognised qualification, training will be provided by us in order for you to confidently carry out the following tasks.
The Dental Nurse role will be to provide chair side assistance to the dentists / therapists /hygienists and carry out excellent cross infection control and be aware of patient confidentiality.
- Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate according to the practice’s health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions
- Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order
- Provide chairside assistance, ensuring that the correct equipment is available
- Always ensure the care and welfare of patients in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner
- Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed
- Observe patient confidentiality at all times
- Handle all substances in accordance with Health and Safety policies
- Be familiar and comply with all Health and Safety rules and guidance, including PPE, COSHH, Mercury handling, infection control, waste disposal, information governance, child protection etc
- Develop and file radiographs and keep a record of all x-rays taken with appraisal grades
- Complete laboratory request forms, keep records of work sent, received and fitted
- Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery
- Stock supplies need to be checked, anything to be ordered must be noted
- Ensure written records are accurately maintained and securely stored
- Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records
- Attend and participate in practice meetings
- Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice (perhaps including the duties and tasks of receptionist as required)
- Undergo training as may be required to develop your skills and abilities
- Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR
- Act in accordance with the practice rules and code of conduct
- General decontamination duties when all the necessary immunisations have been administered
Requirements
You will need to have 5 GCSE's Must include English and Maths.
Experience is not essential as this is a trainee position.
Training provided
Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (location provider to be confirmed)
Working Week
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 38.5 hours per week

We will require 2 satisfactory references, a Clear DBS, enrolment with occupational health for the required immunisations.
