An exciting opportunity has become available within the Council’s Information Governance Team supporting the delivery of the Council’s Information Governance practices and helping us build ready for the next phase of our response to delivering services to the citizens we are here to help.

In this role the successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of workplace skills and experience, as well as developing knowledge and understanding of the work and responsibilities of working in local government in Cardiff.
About the job
The Council’s Information Governance team provides an access to information service, together with Records Management and Data Protection service to all Council services and citizens and also contracted services to all Cardiff Schools as well as national services including the Welsh Local Government Association and Data Cymru.
You will be responsible for:
- Identifying and evaluating data protection and privacy risks through Data Protection Impact Assessments and supporting services to implementing of new processes and systems in a complaint manner
- Conducting investigations on behalf of the Council’s Information Governance Manager and Data Protection Officer, liaising with service officers, citizens and third parties to ensure that data protection incidents are thoroughly conducted and actions identified implemented
- Analysing data gathered through assurance audits and presenting key information to senior officers within the service
You must be able to operate at a strategic level. The ability to analyse data and new processes and empathise with customer circumstances and offer accurate, meaningful advice to customers, senior council officers and team members, is an important part of the job.
