A fantastic opportunity has arisen for two highly motivated individuals to join the mitochondrial genomics team, working with the Newcastle NHS Highly Specialised Service for Rare Mitochondrial Disorders, as trainee Clinical Scientists. The successful candidates will undergo an equivalence training programme during an initial 3 year training contract at band 6, with the expectation that HCPC registration will be gained as a Clinical Scientist in Genomics. On registration the post holders will automatically move to a band 7 permanent Clinical Scientist position. All applicants should have direct experience of the work of a diagnostic genetics service and a minimum of a 2nd class degree in an appropriate scientific subject, preferably with significant genetic content. Relevant higher qualifications such as an MSc or PhD in Genetics would be an advantage, as would experience of genomic testing for mitochondrial disorders.These vacancies represent an excellent opportunity to attain a position as a state registered Clinical Scientist in Genomics whilst working work within a Highly Specialised Multidisciplinary Diagnostic Service and contributing to the delivery of genomic testing for mitochondrial disease patients both within the UK and across the world.
