Trainee Bus Driver

Trainee Bus Driver Shrewsbury, England

DB Arriva
Full Time Shrewsbury, England 10.56 - 12.04 GBP Today
Job description

At Arriva, our Bus Drivers are at the heart of the communities we serve. Whether it’s getting children to school or commuters to work. You’ll connect our customers to what matters to them. Providing excellent customer service and making a real difference in communities. We’re one team, moving forwards together to make travelling by bus the best choice for our customers.

Our Shrewsbury depot provides a mix of local, interurban and Park & Ride services connecting communities in Shrewsbury town and the surrounding areas. As the main operator in the area, we serve employment hotspots such as Emstrey Business Park, educational establishments such as Shrewsbury College and health facilities such as Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The depot was purpose built in 2012 and offers modern facilities for staff and a state-of-the-art Engineering facility to maintain our fleet of circa 50 vehicles.

Don’t worry if you’ve never driven a bus before, we’ll be with you every step of the way to get you started. With the help of our experienced team and our Arriva Training School, you’ll have all the tools you need for full CPC training, so you’ll be behind the wheel in no time. We do the right thing at Arriva, that’s why you’ll be earning an hourly rate of £10.42 whilst learning. Then increasing to £10.80 once you’ve completed your training period and rising year-on-year to £12.00. We’re offering full-time opportunities with potential for overtime if you’d like to take additional hours.

We’re proud of our customer service and how we support our community. You’ll get to know familiar faces and build relationships with your customers. Brightening their day as they pop to shops or commute to work.

About you:

Whilst you don’t need any experience driving a bus, we do have a few requirements. You’ll be over 18 with at least 6 months driving experience with no more than 6 points on your licence. So, if you’re passionate about great customer service and want to help support your local communities then we’d love to hear from you.
The role will be shift-based, so you’ll need to be prepared to work early, evenings and weekends. Next stop, Arriva.

Benefits:
  • Fantastic career progression opportunities
  • Access to the 'Arriva Village', where you can take advantage of store discounts and offers
  • Free bus travel for you and your family (within the same household)
  • Arriva Workplace Pension
