Location: Uddingston
Emtec Building Services are growing and with an impressive pipeline of work already secured we are seeking Trainee and Graduate Quantity Surveyors to join our commercial teams at our HQ in Uddingston. The role would involve working within our delivery teams on exciting projects across Scotland and you would report to the project / regional commercial lead. You would have ongoing training, support and development from the business as you grow in the role.
The Role
- Maintaining accurate financial control systems and report monthly on Cost/Value Reconciliation
- Advising on all financial aspects of contracts, ensuring that valuations are maximised, certified, and paid on time
- Monitoring progress on site and take a lead issuing required notices in accordance with contract procedures and timescales
- Attend monthly CFR review meeting to discuss projects
- Provide updates and advice as the best means of cash collection for your contracts.
- In conjunction with the Project Teams, carefully vet & monitor interim applications to ensure all conditions of contract are satisfied and we are best placed to secure recovery.
- Review Sub-Contract / Main Contract and suggest amendments to the benefit of the business
- Attend pre start meetings when required and regular commercial meetings
- Review and authorise subcontractor payments and subcontractor payless notices
- Provide assistance to the teams on general commercial management of the projects
- Work with the operational management team and advise on all matters relating to Contract and Commercial issues
- Ensure that contractual aspects of the projects are managed including EOT, delay calculations, interrogate and monitor contract programme, etc
What we are looking for
We would love to speak to recent school / college leavers and Quantity Surveying Graduates or other construction related graduates. You will have a keen interest in construction and be able to demonstrate good numeric, IT and communication skills. You will be able to work on your own and as part of a team. We are looking for someone enthusiastic with excellent communication skills and first-class attention to detail.
This role is generally office and site based so you will need a full clean UK driving licence to get about when needed and Mechanical and Electrical experience would be an advantage.
