You would be empowered to take responsibility for the delivery of the key activities on the front line, to always be conscious of, and operate with, the highest regard to safety and to challenge unsafe behaviours at all times.

As a train driver with GB Railfreight you are also the face of the business and are encouraged to build good relationships with customers at our customer sites and terminals, and provide good customer service regardless of the situation. A sense of humour helps, along with a certain level of patience!

Responsibilities:
You will join our London based team and work alongside our Rail Operators who prepare and shunt the trains, duty control managers, Operations Managers, signallers, and a number of other parties to ensure the services run smoothly, safely, and in a timely fashion.

A flexible attitude to working hours is required due to this being a shift-based role working a nominal 34.5 hour week. The shifts vary and need to cover work 24/7, particularly on nights, which is traditionally the domain of freight!

Our Train Driver salary as of 01 April 2023 is £66,369.
Qualifications:
    • Freight Train Driving experience.
    • Candidates must have a clean safety record and must hold a valid UK driving licence.
    • Safety conscious and calm attitude in an event of an emergency situation.
    • Excellent concentration and observational skills.
    • Clear and professional communication skills to relay important safety messages.
    • Customer focused with excellent problem solving skills.
Train Managers must live within 60 minutes of the advertised location.
