We’re looking for a trade planning manager to join our customer planning and value team at Co-op and help develop and deliver our customer trade plan. Our trade planning teams are responsible for pioneering change and driving innovation in the way we promote our products, and in this role, you’ll be looking after our ambient grocery products.
Ambient grocery is a fast-paced and exciting category, and as a trade planning manager, you’ll be collaborating with colleagues across almost every part of Co-op. We’ll look to you to take the lead on trade plans for all retail events and deliver effective campaigns for the ambient products. It’s a complex yet rewarding job, which offers a rare opportunity to see the results of your hard work paying off every time you step into one of our stores and see our ambient products on the shelves.
What you’ll do
- work closely with our commercial, marketing, insight, and wider business functions to propose and agree product nominations to support category sales, trade events, promotional strategies, and media opportunities
- support the senior trade planning manager and team with the trade planning process to deliver periodic trade, sales, and communication plans
- regularly attend project and promotional meetings, providing updates and insight, making sure that decisions made are both customer centric and commercially robust
- create promotional activity plans with commercial teams to deliver market-leading deals to support the wider business value and customer strategies
- brief our communications teams to make sure that promotional activity is salient, clear and, effective across all owned and paid media channels
- develop the in-store member promotional package alongside Head of Trade Planning and cross functional teams
This role would suit people who have
- great relationship management skills, with a talent for negotiating and influencing decision making with partners across the business, up to senior level
- a background in food retail or trade planning would be beneficial, but not essential
- confidence to deliver complex projects with numerous partners across the business
- exceptional attention to detail, time management and organisational skills
- excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to change your style depending on the audience
- strong commercial insight
Why Co-op?
Here you will do work that matters. We are a commercial organisation with a purpose beyond profit, and you’ll have an opportunity to help us build a stronger Co-op and stronger communities. You’ll also get a package that includes
- competitive salary
- coaching, training, and support to help you develop
- pension with up to 10% employer contributions
- annual incentive scheme
- Wagestream – a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
- 28 days holiday (rising to 32 in line with service)
- YuLife - an app that rewards you for exercising with discounts and vouchers for many of the UK’s biggest brands
- discounts on Co-op products and services
