Evona are delighted to be working with a global company who work on next generation small satellite buses and propulsion systems. To date, they have had over 100 successful missions completed with plenty more in the pipeline!
The Simulations team is looking for a curious and motivated Thermal Simulations Engineer who will be contributing to the design and development of satellites by performing thermal calculations and analyses.
Job Description:
- Support business development department with thermal control system sizing, feasibility checks, trade-off studies at pre-contract stage
- Suggest reliable thermal control system design solutions to ensure electronic components are kept within operational temperature ranges
- Assist mechanical design engineers with CAD model geometry preparation (defeaturing) for simulations
- Collaborate with colleagues from other departments and payload suppliers to gather input information required for the thermal simulations
- Perform thermal analysis on spacecraft and subsystem level with Comsol Multiphysics
- Prepare documentation and liaising with international suppliers to procure thermal control system components
Qualifications:
- A passion for various engineering simulations and a desire to learn fast
- Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering or equivalent
- Have a good understanding of heat transfer and thermodynamics
- Be a proficient user of at least one CAD software (SolidWorks or equivalent)
- Have some experience with thermal analysis (Comsol Multiphysics or equivalent)
- Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Advantageous Qualifications:
- Experience working in the space industry
- Understanding of orbital mechanics
- Familiarity with ECSS and NASA standards
- Programming skills (Java, Python)
- Experience with thermal testing
Remote Conditions:
This is a fully remote position but the office is located in the UK
Candidates who are from another EU country other than the UK are still able to work for this position but will have to be employed by an umbrella company for legal, compliance and tax reasons.
