What does the Thermal Engineering Graduate Scheme involve day-to-day?
You’ll learn all about learning about the engineering specialism concerning heat and energy transfer used to develop the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning) systems in our vehicles.
Contributing to live projects, you’ll be able to see the impact you can have as you put your learning into practice with the best kit in the industry. Supporting you every step of the way, our expert mentors will ensure you get the most out of every learning experience. There’s also the opportunity to give something back by getting involved with community activities designed to encourage interest in STEM subjects.
You’ll rotate through various roles within the Thermal Engineering function to give you a full understanding of everything goes on here and inspire your career choices. That might include:
- Designing/specifying associated HVAC systems
- Integrating HVAC systems into machines
- Thermal modelling and simulation with Amesim, Simulink, Matlab and Excel
- CFD simulation pre- and post- processing
- Researching emerging hybridisation and electrification technology

How do I qualify?
You’ll have, or be on in the final year of, a Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree graded 2:1 or higher in a relevant subject. You’ll also need to be able to get to our site in Staffordshire. Most of all, we’re looking for people with a proactive, can-do attitude who will seize this opportunity with both hands. Those are the people who build careers to be proud of at JCB.
