Hywel Dda Health Board present an exciting opportunity to join our CAMHS eating disorder service, supporting the development of ARFID (avoidant and restrictive food intake disorder) services as a ‘Therapy Assistant Practitioner’.

Who are we?

We are an innovative team of Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Speech and Language therapists, Eating Disorder Practitioners, Systemic family therapists and Third Sector Agents striving to deliver the right support, at the right time in the right place as close to home as possible.

This role will form part of the new ARFID team within the CAMHS eating disorder service. A growing Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), all of whom work together to provide early intervention, assessment andrehabilitationin the community to address nutritional deficits, improve wellbeing and prevent deterioration in mental health and physical health.

Our approach is to deliver patient care in a holistic, person-centred manner. This role will require travel across the health board region.

As part of the therapy service, you will work directly with our existing team members to support and deliver a range of therapeutic interventions as part of the eating disorder service supporting patients and their families.

The role includes assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating a combination of therapeutic care plans according to the needs of the referred individuals. The roles are largely community based and can include working independently and with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

You will have considerable experience of working with patients with complex health or rehabilitation needs and you will be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to the work environment and good clinical reasoning skills, to enable you to assess and treat patients within service protocols without immediate direct supervision.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a caring attitude towards those with needs. You will be able to work under pressure, problem solve and delegate and manage your own caseload professionally, recognising also your own limitations, boundaries and reporting to senior members of the MDT.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:

Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;

Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;

48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;

Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales

To apply you should have a NVQ Level 3 or equivalent plus relevant clinical experience working in a therapy service.
