Job description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to appoint two Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioners to our Inpatient Therapy Team at Grantham and District Hospital, working with our experienced Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. The successful candidates will work across the medical wards including the emergency assessment unit (EAU), elective orthopaedic wards, and also provide support staffing for the hydrotherapy service.
Our team aims to maximise an individual’s abilities, with a focus on patient-centred goals, whilst enabling a safe discharge from hospital. With good MDT working and strong links with our community colleagues, our friendly, supportive team work together to help support patient flow, ensuring a smooth transition between hospital and community settings.
Grantham Hospital is working towards becoming the “Orthopaedic centre of Excellence” for the region, it is the main site for elective orthopaedic surgery in Lincolnshire, and the surgical ward is one of the only GIRFT accredited wards in the country. There are some exciting developments across the MSK and orthopaedic pathways here, including prehabilitation for elective hip and knee patients. Grantham is also the the only hospital site in Lincolnshire with a hydrotherapy pool and you will be able to be involved in provision of hydrotherapy as part of this role.
The role requires the successful candidate to work as part of a team to manage a designated workload (within a scope of practice), maintain appropriate records, and accept accountability and responsibility for their own actions. The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously, with close supervision/support from a qualified team member, and as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team.
There will be opportunities to engage in service developments and training and the post holder will assist with the supporting and skill development of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff including assistants, apprentices and students.
To work with a degree of autonomy and as part of a team manage a designated workload, maintaining appropriate records, within a scope of practice and accept accountability and responsibility for own actions.
To accept patients within a scope of practice and carry own patient caseload.
To evaluate patient’s progress and use own judgement to make amendments to the treatment programme within their scope of practice.
To undertake administrative and some house-keeping duties to support the Therapy service.
