Job Summary:
To work as a member of the Children’s Therapy Services (CTS) team, working under the guidance of qualified occupational therapists, to provide treatment for children with physical and developmental difficulties that have required a referral to therapy services. This will be difficulties with functioning in motor skills.
To liaise with other health, education and social services staff, working in partnership with primary carers and external agencies to ensure delivery of a high quality service.
The postholder will work as part of a team to deliver specialist therapy programmes set by qualified therapists to children with complex needs. The post-holder will work with children holistically and incorporate appropriate activities into sessions, to meet the child’s wider developmental needs, including communication, physical skills, sensory needs, play skills and medical needs. In addition, the postholder will be responsible for adjustment of basic seating/toileting equipment in a variety of community settings.
The postholder will work alongside and liaise with relevant professionals regarding progresses and adjust therapy plans and delivery accordingly.
This post is community based; the post holder may travel to a variety of settings, e.g. nurseries, schools, clinics, special schools and children’s own homes.

To provide therapy to children as directed by qualified therapists, this can include therapy programmes.
You will be expected to liaise with other therapy staff, qualified and non-qualified, other staff in the team around the child, parents and most importantly the child / young person themselves.
To provide clinical admin support to therapists to support their clinical duties.
To be responsible for carrying out activities and planning activities once the aims are provided by the therapist.
To work without direct supervision and / or on another site e.g. school, liaising with other agencies and organising / negotiating own appointments and modelling therapy.
To be accountable for own actions and recognise own boundaries, seeking advice as appropriate including second opinions and onward referrals.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
