An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic therapy assistant to join our acute teams at Homerton Healthcare Teaching Hospital.
This post would be suited to non registered person and experienced to gain experience within a diverse and friendly team across health and social care service providers in City and Hackney.
This is a static post based in our acute inpatient therapy team, however there may opportunity to work in other areas. :
A Therapy Assistant’s typical working day may include helping to run exercise and activity groups, working with therapists to assist them in sessions with individual patients and carrying out activities with allocated patients e.g. supervising a patient whilst they practice putting on their shoes or do some exercises.
Assistant staff will also contribute to other departmental activities which include general clerical, administrative and housekeeping jobs e.g. monitoring the stock of wheelchairs and keeping them clean, putting statistical data onto the computer, sending out and filing letters to patients.

Main duties include:
- Work with patients who may have complex and varying physical and psychological presentations
- Work with therapists to provide goal-directed clinical intervention to patients on the ward
- Work on your own carrying out activities with patients, as prescribed by a therapist e.g., doing some exercises, or helping patients to dress or wash
- Help run exercise sessions or activity groups
- Give assistance on home visits with therapists
- Teach people to walk with different walking aids e.g., a frame or crutches
