You will help provide a high standard of care to patients undergoing anaesthetic and surgical procedures, assisting in the departments workload and delivering a quality service in a professional manner. To provide support to the multi professional team by undertaking appropriate duties following assessment and planning of requirements by a registered practitioner. Additionally to provide support by undertaking non nursing and ancillary duties. The post holder will work as a member of the multi professional team with supervision/guidance from registered practitioner. The safe conveyance and movement of patients to and from theatres between wards and departments by bed/trolley/wheelchair/assisted walking Assist with the preparation/positioning of patients and equipment for a theatre list And be familiar with the operating tables and their fitments Assist the professional healthcare worker during the delivery of Pre, Peri and Postoperative care and respond as directed by the healthcare professional in emergency situations. Complete documentation in accordance with NMC standards. Prevention and control of hospital acquired infection by ensuring the correct disposal of linen and clinical waste and maintaining close liaison with the Trusts control of infection department. Carry out cleaning and care of equipment being aware of manufacturer’s recommendations. Assist in the stocking of shelves and storage of equipment. Act as a member of the theatre team with regard to cleaning theatre furniture and floors at the conclusion of lists. Following appropriate level of training in the Theatre areas accept delegated duties within parameters of capabilities and competencies. Implementation of Trust Risk Management Strategy and understand implications of same within area of work. Ensure attendance at all mandatory training events and identify/maintain own professional/personal development needs via the Trust’s appraisal process and development opportunities. Demonstrate commitment to IWL principles and flexible working patterns, to meet the needs of the service and staff Tackle discrimination and harassment, and promote equality and diversity in the workplace Reduce sickness absence; work place accidents; and promote zero tolerance on violence against staff 1. Control of Infection Be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene. To undertake annual training/updates in infection prevention and control. 1. Communication and Working Relationships Communicate with patients, including carers and relatives promoting good public relationships Communicate effectively with all the multi-disciplinary teams and liaise with other agencies, as appropriate promoting positive working relationships 1. The most challenging part of the job To achieve competence to a level defined locally thus demonstrating the ability to function as a member of the Theatre team.
