The IT Test Lead role takes responsibility for the management of testing activities across the IT function.
To fulfill this role, the lead must understand the discipline of testing and how to effectively implement a testing process while fulfilling the traditional leadership roles of a manager.
The role will involve defining, implementing and maintaining the IT Test Strategy for Poundland & Dealz and leading the test function to deliver successful completion of test objectives across all programmes and projects.
The key objective is to provide an improved test capability for Poundland, which enables greater quality assurance throughout the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Create & implement a tailored testing strategy for Poundland IT
- Implement & manage recognized testing tools, methodologies & processes
- Work with wider IT Delivery function to understand test demand to support ongoing change portfolio delivery
- Ensure adequate resource is in place to meet test demand using internal and external resource from both UK & Off-Shore locations
- Planning, coordination, and control of the various test activities at project level where required
- Work with the Environments Manager to ensure adequate test environments and regularly refresh test data are available
- Drive the automation of test to ensure efficiency & speed whilst maintaining quality standards
- Ensure that relevant analytics, measurements, metrics & reporting is in place at relevant stages of the testing process
- Technical management and control of the testing team
- Definition and monitoring of quality goals
- Ensuring high-quality products are delivered to production to minimize the risk of issues after deployment
- Act as the Go To person for ‘how we should test’ – spread knowledge & good practice within IT
- Influence the wider organization on the benefits of a strong testing approach, working with business functions to guide UAT activity
Experience:
- Experience in a retail-based IT function with focus on:
- Supply Chain & WMS
- ERP (Oracle)
- Retail EPOS
- Digital
- Test function leadership and team building with a mixture of in-house and external resource, both on-shore and off-shore from the UK
- Experience of selection & integration of a test partner
- Ideally experience in the creation of a test function from the ground up
- Creation and implementation of an IT Test strategy
- Influencing and educating colleagues at all levels of the need for a benefits of a solid testing regime

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
