WHAT TO EXPECT
Jaguar Land Rover’s new initiative for modern luxury and electrical growth has meant we are in the need of forward-thinking individuals to join us. In our Current Manufacturing Centre department, we are building a team to meet the expectation of JLR’s expansion. As we embark on new projects to come, there will be new areas within electrified engineering to explore.
As a Test Engineer, you will use your engine and battery/electric knowledge to meet the challenges to come. You will need to calibrate test machine’s and ensure test experience is kept to requirements. With this you will analyse and interpret data through various tests and exploring design drawings. Being a key figure on supporting current ICE production facilities and future development of the Jaguar Land Rover electric range of vehicles.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
Working closely with Manufacturing Operations teams you will support current production with Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering (PTME) departments ensuring robust and quality equipment handover of new facilities. This will be achieved through:
Complete full preparation of test facility and test parts to enable effective and timely data deliveryProvide technical expertise in the preparation of tests and the associated measurement of data. This will be provided through a use of technical design drawings and an overall understanding of engine technical knowledge
Support continuous improvement activity with the goal of improving test efficiency and product quality
Use your knowledge of MS Office Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project) in order to best perform
Conduct analysis and fault rectification to ensure minimum down time
Act as champion for all process documentation (JLR Way) and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW)
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Essential:
Testing experience within current manufacturing test arena – including experience in the management of cold, hot and dyno test cells, and test rigs associated with ICE PowertrainGood Knowledge, experience and understanding of testing protocols with an ability to analyse and interpret data output from test facilities
Good IT skills and awareness of Process Authoring Tool (GSPAS), simulation and virtual toolsets i.e. Digital-buck, CATIA V5 and Byteworx’s
Be self-motivated with sound leadership and communication skills, ideally with experience and understanding of both EOL testing and audit requirements
Educated to Degree level in Manufacturing Systems or a similar engineering discipline. Candidates with HNC / HND and / or the relevant experience would be considered
