As IT Test Analyst you will work to and promote testing best practice throughout the Society adhering to established test strategies. Working collaboratively in BAU and project environments as required, you will ensure formal testing of systems, applications and data is undertaken and consistently delivered to a high standard.
With a keen eye for detail and knowledge of structured test approaches as Test Analyst you will accurately capture the results of testing and raise detailed defect reports/tickets as appropriate providing summary results to project managers and workstream leads.
In particular we are looking for someone with good experience of testing data integrations and complex data transformations - using techniques and tools such as SQL scripting to test the development of data marts in a data warehouse environment.
The role will be hybrid working from our South East Regional Hub - (West Sussex) with a high focus on remote working. We know life can be busy so trips to our hub will be for core team collaboration. This could be as little as once per month - it’s always nice to meet your fellow colleagues in person to build great relationships and learn from others!
Here’s some of the key work you’ll be doing:
- Assist project managers or workstream leads with the estimation of testing effort and the planning of testing tasks as required.
- Participate in sprint planning meetings to gain a full understanding of test requirements.
- Create or update detailed test cases and scenarios in advance of test execution activities.
- Execution of manual and/or automated testing using the prepared test cases and plans.
- Approve the final decision relating to the overall quality of the software being tested before this is handed over to business testers.
- Support and where required, facilitate Business User Acceptance Testing.
- Participate in post testing/release activities, e.g. post implementation reviews, contributing to lessons learned and future strategy as appropriate.
You’ll be an advocate for the Society’s established test practices, promoting a consistent approach to ensure high standards of software assurance is maintained.
What we are looking for in you
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of structured test approaches (e.g. V-Model, Waterfall).
- Understanding of version and change control.
- Software testing experience including test analysis, specification and execution of complex test cases.
- Experience of working with database technologies such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL and PostgreSQL - experience of SQL scripting and testing data transformations is key for this particular role.
- Experience of working with web technologies.
- Understanding of the underlying technology and architecture of web and client server applications.
- Competent in the production of project reports to demonstrate progress or issues.
- Demonstrable functional testing experience and exposure to non-functional testing.
- Commercial experience of working with industry standard test management and defect tracking tools.
- Broad knowledge of IS/IT architecture
