Job description

Purpose
Reporting to the Test Manager, this role’s primary focus will be to undertake testing activities and deliver testing services for change projects and programmes, and for work-packages and application changes within the small/medium change portfolio of work.
They will be responsible for handling and completing all relevant test activities within the remit of projects or work-packages, covering both functional and non-functional testing; and also be responsible for delivering project testing services in line with MS Amlin standards.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Analysis of test requirements and the creation of test scenarios and scripts
  • Execution and maintaining of test scripts and other test deliverables
  • Tracking and reporting on incidents and test progress to key stakeholders
  • Contributing to peer-reviews of test documents, artefacts and deliverables
  • Liaising with other team members, Business and third-party stakeholders
The job holder will work closely with the application development, project teams, the Business user acceptance stakeholders and third-party teams. They will also need to be able to communicate to Business stakeholders in non-technical terms; and have a good understanding of insurance underwriting and MS Amlin’s business.
Excellent communication skills are a clear advantage, as is attention to detail, proven time management skills and a creative approach to problem solving.
Good technical background and knowledge of test automation frameworks, techniques and tools, are desirable; as they will be expected to contribute to and build on the current MS Amlin’s standards, frameworks and automation capability.
The individual is expected to continue developing their expertise in testing methodologies and to support the MSAmlin’s goal of further developing test capability and testing practices in line with industry best practice; to drive the testing function forward towards improved process efficiency and repeatability.
A strong working knowledge of Agile is essential; as is an understanding of mainstream test and defect management tools.
They must be able to work effectively both on their own, with minimal supervision, on small changes and within a larger team when working on more complex areas of change.
Key Result Areas.
Software Testing/Quality Assurance: Execute test plans, and develop, maintain and execute manual and automated test scripts, as required. They will be expected to undertake and complete all test analysis, specification and execution activities within the relevant projects or work-packages, delivering to time and budget, and in line with project or BAU requirements.
Test Review/Reporting: Work with the Project Manager, Test Manager, Test Lead and/or other team members to review test documentation and requirements to enable testing to be effectively specified and executed. Prepare test output reports and acceptance notes as required; and participate in test reviews and sign-off meetings.
Test Environment/Data: Work with the development and application support teams to prepare, validate and maintain the test environment and any requisite configuration and test data.
Knowledge Transfer: Work with other team members to contribute to post project/work-package completion, ensuring that test artefacts are maintained to allow for regression testing when modifications are made in the future, and that all tacit knowledge necessary for running the regression test artefacts is captured, reposited and shared appropriately. Ensure that testing specification and execution are documented in sufficient detail to facilitate review by internal and external auditors.
Business Interaction: Establish a close working relationship with key Business users and provide key stakeholders with relevant information on relevant testing activities.
Compliance: To act in accordance at all times with the company’s Business Ethics Policy. To be satisfied that their activities comply with all relevant Company, FCA, Lloyd’s regulatory and legal requirements, with particular reference to the Competition Policy, Anti-Money Laundering and Health and Safety Policies.
