Working as part of a team to investigate disrepair legal claims against the council and ensure the speedy resolution of cases.
Supporting the Service Coordinators in the delivery of the disrepair litigation service, including budget monitoring, performance management and supervision of a small team dealing with disrepair litigation matters.
To provide a comprehensive review of tenancy & repairs history in respect of disrepair litigation matters, by undertaking a forensic review of all computer records, tenancy files and associated records providing legal services with evidence to defend claims, alternatively where necessary identify liability to allow claims to be settled as quickly as possible.
Provide a tenant liaison officer role to support a wide range of customers where the provision of alternative accommodation or tenancy support is required in order for disrepair matter to be concluded. This will involve working closely with internal partner departments such as voids and allocations teams, land and property team, homeless and temporary accommodation teams as well as our repair partners. And most importantly our tenants and their families.
To liaise directly with contract works officers in order to clarify any technical issues. Also, to provide legal services with a direct contact point to address and resolves matters they raise.
Attendance at court to give lay expert evidence in relation to Birmingham City Councils records when required.
