Telecommunications Cabling Technician Newcastle under Lyme, England
Job description
Due to expansion, Total Network Solutions (Europe) Ltd, are recruiting additional cabling staff/teams to support our current workload on various contracts in the Northwest, Staffordshire, Cheshire, and the Midlands this would be on either as full time PAYE or rates for the right person/gang.
We are looking to recruit individuals who are experienced overhead, and underground cabling individuals must be experienced in both underground cabling like test, rod and roping, sub duct installation, air pressure testing, cable blowing, locate blockages and complete A55’s and overhead cabling and hold valid smart award and street works qualifications.
This role is only for UK applicants as a cabling technician you will carry out your duties in line with engineering specifications as defined by company and the client.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Duct and route surveys and complete box to box information on our system.
- Complete A55’s via our system Depotnet.
- Test rod and rope routes in the underground network.
- Blow cables from 12 fibre up to 576 fibre cable.
- Install, terminate, and test sub duct installations.
- Provide constant communication with field support managers to assist with completion of fibre works.
- Use and document all work via depotnet, including safety, daily measurements, site open and close etc.
- The usage of plant, materials, care of tools and equipment in a way to minimise unnecessary waste and damage.
- Adherence to all Health and safety practises
- Ensure to bring sufficient hardware & tools out to site each day.
- Ensure all daily reporting, and documentation is updated and sent back to the project team daily.
- Carry out quality audits and report problems and recommend solutions.
- Understand the Safety & Environmental Policies ensure all activities carried out complies with the risk assessment and method statements.
- Always ensure adherence to safe working practices.
- Be prepared to work away from home when required.
Skills & Qualifications required:
- NRSWA signing, lighting & guarding
- NRSWA Cable avoidance (Cat & Genny)
- Confined spaces medium risk
- IPAF 1B licence
- Hold either K8 or PIA underground cabling qualification.
- Hold Overhead or PIA overhead cabling qualification
- Hold EUSR telecoms CSCS card
- Full UK driving licence
- Organised and proactive approach to work
- Ability to work in a strong team environment.

- 1 to 2 year working experience within the telecommunications industry.
- Read and understand duct drawings, network schematics.
- Understand written work instructions on MS word, Excel.

Salary: Up to £28,000.00 per year
