The Team:

KPMG’s Digital in Defence Consulting team helps UK Defence transform the way they select, manage, and deliver IT services across defence. We help UK Defence to understand and exploit the constantly changing technology ecosystem to deliver value, agility, and efficiency. In collaboration with other KPMG specialists, we support our clients through digital transformation and enable them to transform their business through technology-enabled change.

Working within KPMG’s Digital in Defence Consulting team provides access to knowledge and resources within the wider KPMG Technology Consulting practice; facilitating collaborative KPMG Technology Consulting team engagements, knowledge and skill sharing, and working together to help UK Defence get the best from their technology services. We are growing our team to meet increasing demand for our market leading services and are seeking your relevant expertise and experience to join us.


The Role

  • Building and developing positive constructive relationships inside and outside KPMG
  • Assessing problems from multiple angles to ensure all relevant issues are considered when making decisions
  • Proactively driving forward new and creative ideas which benefit the UK Defence and wider KPMG clients


You will work within the Tech Strategy capability group, specialising in the UK Defence industry, to:

  • Bring a technology perspective to a broad range of Defence issues, demonstrating how technology can be used to address problems and realise opportunities
  • Design and deliver IT operating models that enable clients to get the most from their technology organisation
  • Develop digital and technology strategies alongside client teams
  • Provide credible advice to clients on how to operate IT in the most effective manner
  • Collaborate across our capabilities (IT Sourcing, Tech Architecture and Service Management) to improve and transform IT services for our clients
  • Work with other teams across KPMG to provide support to clients as they undergo digital transformation


You will also work with the wider KPMG firm to:

  • Identify emerging trends in the UK Defence market and develop products and services that KPMG can leverage within our client base
  • Contribute to innovative thought leadership on technology topics including digital transformation, technology strategy, digital operating models and delivering more effective and efficient technology services
  • Support and mentor junior colleagues to help grow our Tech Strategy capability, with particular emphasis on capability growth within the UK Defence industry.


You will work as part of an engagement team to deliver high quality products and outcomes to our clients and identify further opportunities to support them for the wider KPMG firm

Essential

  • Be passionate and curious about technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to adjust communication styles from C level to junior level
  • Work well in an ambiguous environment
  • Be self-sufficient and willing to lead from the front
  • Be eligible for appropriate UK government security check clearance


Desirable

  • Experienced in operating model design
  • Experienced in Agile delivery methods
  • Familiar with technology trends and ways of working (for example DevOps)
  • Thrive on learning new and emerging concepts
  • Experience of working within the UK Defence sector
